The BMW Motorrad Club Cape invites you to join us for an unforgettable ride to the beautiful Transkei Wild Coast.
Non Club members, and riders riding motorcycles that are not BMW’s are welcome to join us! The “Club” has visited the Transkei on many occasions over many years but never have we specially arranged a ride that will suit beginners and is very passenger friendly.
The Tour has been specifically planned in such a way that the distances on dirt are limited and that the distance between hotels is easily manageable. Add to this 3 “rest” days that will allow for lots of “relaxing” time on the Wild Coast. We have chosen hotels that will really allow the participants to enjoy what the Wild Coast has to offer. Be sure to bring your cameras and remember that the early birds will get the best “sunrise” photographs.
Dates: 13th to 22nd August 2021 (Friday to the following Sunday)
The itinerary is as follows :
Day 1) Leave Cape Town via the Garden Route to Storms River for our first night.
Day 2) After breakfast we will depart for Cintsa in the Eastern Cape where our Lodge awaits us. It will have been 2 long days riding for us to get here so we will be spoilt in 4 star luxury. Cocktails and snacks will await our arrival in the late afternoon. Cintsa is included as part of the Transkei Wild Coast but in my mind the Wild Coast starts at the Kei River.
Day 3) After a fantastic nights sleep and breakfast fit for a king, we will mount our steeds and and enter the real Transkei. Our first taste of dirt riding will be today. Our destination for the next 2 nights is one of the Wild Coast Icons. Here we will enjoy Cocktails with the waves lapping against the bar.
Day 4) Rest day. Go horse riding, cross the river in a little rowing boat… but don’t pay the ferry man till he gets you to the other side. Rent your own little canoe or just chill, it’s up to you.
Day 5) We depart on dirt to one of the lesser known Hotels on the Wild coast. The sunrises at the river mouth are breathtaking. Have your cameras ready.
Day 6) Rest day. Take a long walk along the beach, row one of the canoes up river or just relax and get ready for our afternoon boat cruise up the river.
Day 7) After a late-ish breakfast we depart the Hotel on dirt and head for our next Hotel.
Day 8) So you packed some walking shoes? Today, being our last “rest” day, I am sending you all on an educational walk/boat trip to learn a bit about the Xhosa custom. The real reason is to walk off some of the extra weight you have put on from all the fantastic food we have enjoyed. The “experience” takes about 2 hours and is well worth it.
Day 9) We say our goodbyes to the Wild Coast and start heading for home via the Pont at Kei mouth.
Day 10) Arrive home in the late afternoon with just enough time to wash our bikes.
