Breakfast Ride to Hankey Golf Club – Hankey – 12th September 2021

We met on Sunday at Continental Motorrad on a perfect morning for riding; we had a great turnout of 54 members with 34 bikes. After having a hot cup of coffee and cookies, thanks to Shane and Continental Motorrad, we left for Hankey on the N2.

Martin Verrall took the lead and rode at a constant speed with everybody riding staggered formation behind him which resulted in all the bikes riding safely. At the Langkloof turn-off, Charl Gerber and 11 members went on a short off-road route to Hankey. The rest of the members headed towards Humansdorp turn-off towards Hankey. All 34 bikes arrived together safely at Hankey Golf Club and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. Francois brought up the rear to ensure everyone arrived safely.

Money and clothes was handed over by Conrad Slabber to the Hankey Orphanage to help after it was burnt down. Thanks to all members that donated money and clothes to this worthy cause.

The members formed small groups and headed back home. Thanks to all that joined and made the day memorable!

Full set of photos are available on our Face book page and website.

Next Social – Will be held on the 13th October @ German Club 18.00pm for 18.30pm.

There will be an attendance draw at the social.

Breakfast Run – 17th October – TBA

Breakfast run will be organised by Francois Terblanche.

To the whole Committee thank you.

Safety

Our club promotes safe riding and therefore we would like to ask the members to ride in staggered formation and always keep the person behind you in site.
We also urge the members to stick to the speed limit.
Normally when the club organizes a ride, the group will re-group at certain points on route to ensure that all are safe and that you didn’t get lost.
Also members must ride in their own comfort zone.
We trust that you would enjoy the festivities of the club and looking forward to seeing you and your partner at the next club event.

For a bit of humour:

Jim the town drunkard was at his wit’s end, he had no money to buy even the barest necessities for his family.
It was right before going to sleep one night that Jim prayed the following emotional prayer:
“Dear Lord, please, all I’m asking for is some food to put on the table, NOTHING else! The booze I’ll buy myself.”

Francois walks into a bar obviously stone drunk, and asks for a drink. Sorry said the bartender but you obviously already had a little too much to drink. Fuming mad Francois walks out the front door and walks into the side door. “Can I have a drink please.” “Sorry” the bartender says “but you can’t have a drink here.” Francois walks out and goes in through the back door. “Can I please have a drink.” “Enough!” The bartender screamed “I told You No Drinks!” Francois looks at the bartender closely and exclaimed “Darn! How many bars you work at.”

Paddy and Murphy are having’ a pint in the pub, when some scuba divers come on the TV. Paddy says, “Murphy, why is it that deep sea divers always sit on the side of the boat with them air tanks on their backs, and fall backwards out of the boat?” Murphy thinks for a minute then says, “That’s easy. It’s ‘cos if they fell forwards, they’d still be in the friggin boat!”

Quote of the day:

“Don’t follow trends, start trends.”- Frank Capra

To all the members and committee have a wonderful and Safe Month.
