Daleen Van Zyl … Lamberts Bay trip – (27-28 Feb 2021)
Wes and Daleen received club coffee mugs for writing trip reports and Wouter recommended members who have not read them do so as they are both excellent reports.

a) 27th/ 28th Feb Lamberts Bay overnight ride … Wouter gave his perspective of the trip, singing its praises and thanking Ian, Karen and Geoff for arranging an amazing[classic] overnight ride with two options. This is an annual club event and vey well supported by members.
b) 28th Feb Ysterfontien breakfast ride … Mike Henderson took this breakfast ride; he related the events of the day and raised an important issue. He noticed that visitors and new members stuggled with the riding formation and failed to see the importance of keeping up with the group to prevent people getting lost. Mike suggested the training sector look at an introduction course to new members either in the form of a presentation or a group chat.
c) 7th March Off Road Training Level 1,2 and Pillion at Anura … Arno gave us the story of the training day. The attendance, the routines and the combining of the new trainer into the groups.
d) 14th March Perdeberg breakfast ride … Wouter chatted about his breakfast ride, the group stayed nicely together until at the venue some riders missed the entrance to Perdeberg, had to make a U-turn while Rouen the sweep went to fetch them. Great breakfast, company and some bought wine from the gift shop.
e) 28th March breakfast ride Saggy Stone … Carl told us of the four passes breakfast ride. A slow passage due to traffic through Pniel resulted in the last third of the group taking a wrong turn but they soon found their way to Saggy Stone. Rouen and three others adjusted their route to arrive at the venue from a different direction. The venue and food were very good, added to by the live entertainment and craft beers for sale. Carl thanked Rouen for sweeping.
f) Geoff told the members about his recent trip to Lesotho called “Not the Lesotho trip”, he described an incident where one of the riders fell off his bike and described the damage to the bike and rider which ended the trip for him with cracked ribs and other injuries. After much ado they got him settled at a local hotel and injuries attended to, arranged for him to return home. The bike was collected by insurance. Four of the team took on the famous but badly damaged Sani Pass, please see our FB page and other upcoming media for details of this event.

a) 11th April breakfast ride Prince Alfred’s Hamlet … Rouen gave a brief outline of the route we will take and a description of the venue 9 km outside of Ceres.
b) 18th April Off road training Anura … Arno gave an up date of the booking for the training and went through what will be covered. The new trainers will be more engaged at this event.
c) 25th April breakfast ride Stellenbosch flying club … Donavan spoke about his approximate route for this breakfast ride and the venue’s reputation of having value for money breakfast.
d) 1st May International Female riders’ day … Anna-Marie proposed arranging a lady’s event for IFRD and related stories and venues of pass events for IFRD. There will be some international theme and information. She will be getting in touch with all the ladies in the club, ask for ideas and arrange going forward. Soon as Anna-Marie has some firm arrangements she will let Rouen know so as to advertise and get the info out to the members.
